Celebrate the Blue Mountains in autumn with this magical series of sensory events

The equinox has great meaning to cultures and religions all over the world. If you're not familiar, the March equinox is one of two astronomical events in the year that sees the earth's axis tilt in a way that gives us both day and night in equal measure and marks the beginning of autumn (or spring in September). Celebrations around the equinox happen all over the world, from Persian New Year to witchy pagan rituals. Locally, the Blue Mountains is your place to be, and this year they're chucking a series of weekend extravaganzas based around the senses.

Equinox will salute the start of autumn by showcasing the creative, culinary and natural magic of the mountains. From March 18 to April 10 the weekends will be packed with free and ticketed events that play on the senses – thematically divided into Hear (March 18- 20) , Taste (March 25- 27), See (April 1- 3) and Feel (April 8- 10). Program highlights include Feast, a two-day culinary journey in the Hydro Majestic Ballroom with a four-course meal and surreal entertainment. Make time for the mental gymnastics of Harrison Milas in The Unfair Advantage, a magic performance and tutorial in Pigeon Lane. Any weekend you choose to visit Equinox you'll find delicious food and drink, live music, inspiring workshops, bushwalks through the ancient landscape, stargazing and more.

Make a date with Equinox and celebrate autumn with flair. Check out the full program and plan your visit to the Blue Mountains – our state's magical nature playground.
