Join South African-born chef Warren Mendes for a special culinary event to celebrate the launch of Network Ten’s newest television series

If you thought the only way to experience the most delicious and authentic elements of South African fare was to jump on a plane and fly halfway across the world, think again. To celebrate the launch of Food Trail: South Africa – Network 10’s new television series that’s all about showcasing the country’s eclectic cuisine and diverse culture – a special culinary event is taking place on July 30 at the Argyle thanks to South African Tourism.

Upon arrival you’ll receive a complimentary drink, and there will be plenty of opportunities to sample some of South Africa’s most famous dishes. The tasty line-up of snacks is set to include bunny chow (which originated from Durban’s Indian community) and braai – a very similar concept to an Aussie barbecue that involves cooking meat over an open fire to really enhance the flavours and aromas.

The presenter of this new TV show is South African-born chef Warren Mendes, and he will be conducting live cooking demonstrations throughout the day, while South African-born entertainer Barry Conrad will also perform. And in exciting news for all in attendance, there will also be an exclusive first look at Food Trail: South Africa before it hits screens in August.

So if you’re keen to feast on traditional dishes, listen to live music and discover why the South African foodie scene has been hailed by critics, chefs and travellers alike as one of the most vibrant in the world, this is one fun-filled party you’re not going to want to miss.

For more information and to register for this free event, head to the website. Food Trail: South Africa premieres on Network 10 at 4.30pm on August 6.
