General Assembly Career Gym
Time Out says
Flex your mind and kick career goals at a different kind of gym this summer
Like clockwork, each new year heralds wide-eyed promises to start healthy habits and get into tip-top shape. Why not bring that energy to your career in 2021?
This summer, tech education provider General Assembly is opening up a virtual career gym where you can drop into a packed schedule of (mostly free) events, workshops, panels and networking sessions held over Zoom. Whether you’re looking to upskill or change careers, you’ll get a boost with essentials like how to master your CV, flex a winning LinkedIn profile and create a personal brand.
For a fresh start after a trying year, sign up to the Pressing the Reset Button When You're Burnt Out event on January 11, where you’ll work on recognising and alleviating burnout with wellness techniques you can practise from home. If job searching has become a drag lately, energise your efforts with the tips and tricks shared in Careers, Sweat & Tears, a workshop for securing a job in an often daunting post-Covid world.
Meanwhile, ambitious upstarts will have the opportunity to grow their network from the comfort of home with two social sessions – one catering towards women in tech, and another for start-ups. Hosts will set the tone before you’re divided into breakout rooms for rapid-fire relationship building.
And finally, because we’re living in an era of #balance, you’ll get guidance on how to get your metaphorical house in order too. They’ve invited Lululemon to run an early morning warm-up and “feel the burn” sesh so you can start the day rosy-cheeked and ready to rumble, while classes on how to manage stress and build mindfulness, get financially fit and turn your side hustle dreams into a reality will teach you to not just work better, but live better as well.
