The 1980s was a wild time – the hair was big, the clothes were loud and the power ballads were super-charged with emotion. But that’s what makes it such a fun decade to revisit, and the team at Sydney Tower Eye obviously agree, because they’ve just launched a brand-new 80s-themed arcade bar.

Across Friday and Saturday nights in April, the observation deck will be transformed into a glittering, neon-lit wonderland for those 18 and over, complete with a pop-up bar, tasty snacks, pinball machines and classic 80s tunes blaring from the speakers.

You can choose between two two-hour sessions per night (starting at 6pm and 9pm), and two types of tickets (standard and premium). Included in both are one drink, a hotdog and unlimited access to the arcade machines, while premium ticket holders will also score an ice-cream and glow accessories.

When you’re not admiring the spectacular views, Sydney’s highest arcade boasts a nostalgia-inducing selection of games from the 80s that you’ll find hard to resist – we’re talking Dance Dance Revolution, Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. There will even be air hockey tables.

The arcade is also open during the day (however the pop-up bar will be closed until the evening), and it is free to enter with a general admission ticket to the observation deck. There’s no age limit during this time, so kids are welcome to swap their PlayStations for Pac-Man and give the old-school games a go.

This event has been made possible thanks to City of Sydney and the night-time diversification grants. For more information on session times and ticketing options, head to the website.
