Sydney’s theatres, clubs, galleries and bars are about to reopen, so if you're craving live entertainment post-lockdown, now is the perfect time to get back out there, have some much-needed fun and support your local arts scene in the process.

There's nothing more iconically Sydney than the Sydney Opera House, and the celebrated performing arts centre is accepting the $25 NSW Discover vouchers as payment or part-payment for performances. You can also grab a drink and a meal before or after the show at Opera Kitchen, Opera Bar, Portside and Bennelong using your Dine vouchers.

Here are a few suggestions for how you can make the most of your Dine & Discover NSW vouchers at the Sydney Opera House.

Step back in time with a deviant rock'n'roll love story

From the absurd mind of writer/director John Waters (Hairspray, Pink Flamingos) comes the deliciously rebellious, cheeky and quick-witted musical Cry-Baby. Based on the movie of the same name starring Johnny Depp as a delinquent 1950s heartthrob who falls for a private school girl, the award-winning show hits the Sydney Opera House from July 22 to August 15.

As Waters himself says: “Cry-Baby celebrates the joy all bad little teenage boys and girls feel the first time they hear music that causes trouble in their own homes. Parents hate the new sound, but the kids love it. Finally, the soundtrack of their young lives can begin.”

Take the kids on a magical adventure and unleash your inner child

Combining classic imaginative play with the magic of new technology, Zooom gives life to the whimsical and wondrous things that exist inside a child’s mind, taking audiences on a journey through a carefully curated dream full of mind-bending possibilities and portals, alternate realities, magical worlds and new friends.

Beginning with a child alone in a dark room with nothing but a single light to play with, the immersive theatre experience calls on its young audience to help her transcend reality and create her own adventure with lights, projections and lasers.

No kids? No problem. Zooom is fun for all ages!

Celebrate Sydney's nightlife with Astral People and Vivid Live

Local music tastemakers and party-starters Astral People are teaming up with Vivid Live to celebrate their tenth birthday with two huge nights of performances from some of the world's best electronic artists.

The Sydney Opera House Northern Broadwalk will play host to the decade-defining weekender on August 19 and 20, featuring Cosmo’s Midnight, Hiatus Kaiyote, DJ Seinfeld (SWE), Genesis Owusu plus a whole host of local stars.

After being extended by a month, the NSW Dine and Discover vouchers are due to expire on July 31, so if you haven't used yours yet, get cracking and book some entertainment before it's too late. Head to the Sydney Opera House website to book shows, tours and other experiences online using your Discover NSW Vouchers.

Haven't claimed your vouchers yet? Each NSW resident aged 18 and over is eligible to receive four vouchers, two Dine and two Discover, worth $25 each. Signing up is easily done online or via the Service NSW app.
