Time Out says

This black tie dinner serves high class horror with ocean views

As the sun goes down over Bondi Beach this Halloween, a darkly decadent black tie dinner will fill the Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, centred around a feast that's equal parts elegant and skin-crawlingly creepy.

Classy vampiric thrills and gory chills are on the agenda, with Dreamcatchersdreamtime's art direction taking cues from Kubric-esque film references. Things might take a turn for the extraterrestrial too as chart-topping dance music duo Sneaky Sound System get you screaming “I saw a UFO, and nobody believed me”. Make sure to take lots of 'Pictures' in your head for their cabaret style performance.

Created by head chef Alex Prichard, the theatrical multi-course menu features a starter topped with green ants, antipasto with pigs blood crackers, squid ink spaghetti with Moreton Bay bugs, and a trick or treat tray of petit fours featuring blood plum jelly and salted popcorn macarons. The real conversation starter however is the head of Taluca Park free range suckling pig, presented on a silver tray on top of burning bay leaves with koji (a living fermented food) and salmoriglio (an ancient Italian marinade with a sour, lemony flavour).  Meanwhile head bartender Matty Opai has created a drinks list taking inspiration from horror films, including a Blood Red concoction that draws inspiration from the infamous hallway scene in The Shining, as well as a Twisted Gin Fizz with activated charcoal that alludes to the “fear of the unknown”.

If all the artsy gore and horror references don’t give you a fright, perhaps the ticket price for this sordid affair will – it’s $400 a head. That includes the million dollar view, dinner, and entertainment, but does not include beverages. Naturally, the dress code is black tie. There are seatings starting at 7pm, 7.30pm, 8pm and 8.30pm. You can make a reservation here, if you dare.
