Time Out says

The Australian Museum’s famed after-hours party is back, and this year’s theme could just be the best yet

Hands up if you’re ready to let loose and have a good time? Of course you are! After a three-year hiatus Jurassic Lounge is back on June 18, bigger and better than ever before. And this year’s theme is a goodie: heroes.

It’s officially time to dust off your Buzz Lightyear outfit, pull out the Superman cape or freshen up your Elsa dress. But the hero theme doesn’t necessarily mean you need to look like you stepped off the set of a Marvel film, it can also include sporting legends (think Ash Barty) or everyday heroes like frontline workers. Get creative and have fun with it!

The line-up of performers include Soul of Sydney DJs (who will be spinning funk, jazz and roller boogie tunes well into the night), plus some of Sydney’s most fabulous drag queens. Scientific illustrator Celia Curtis will be on-hand to teach you how to sketch specimens from the museum’s very own collection, while a team of leading scientists from Improv Theatre Sydney will be attempting an autopsy of a T-rex – you know, normal party shenanigans.

There will also be face painting, sideshow antics, immersive experiences, a pop-up bar and plenty of dancing. The exclusive Jurassic World by Brickman® exhibition will be open to explore, and if you’re feeling particularly daring you can brave the Mutant Barnyard – Australia’s largest collection of authentic freak animals.

This is an 18+ event and tickets are $25, or $20 if you’re an Australian Museum member. Purchase your ticket online and you can also use your Discover NSW voucher in person. For more information, head to the website.
