A one-day dance music and arts event takes over the industrial precinct of Cockatoo Island in October

'Speculative futures' is the theme for an innovative new electronica festival taking place on Cockatoo Island (Wareamah) on Saturday October 15. Kicking off at 2pm, Mode Festival offers three stages for genre-bending DJs, producers and visual artists.

International DJs performing include Adam Pits & Lisene (UK); Aurora Halal (USA); Djrum (UK); Etapp Kyle (UA); KI/KI (Netherlands); Maara (Canada); Priori (Canada); Upsammy (Netherlands); and Wata Igarashi (Japan). Local greats Anuraag, Crescendoll, Cousin, E Fishpool, Fibre Optixxx, KIA, Kritty, LOIF, Nat Salih and OK EG are also on the schedule.

Art installations have been designed to showcase the unique spaces in the island’s industrial precinct. The program has been developed by artistic director Tiarna Herzceg and features work by Henry Lai-Pyne & Ava Clifforth, Nadeem Tiafau Eshraghi, MaggZ, Elizabeth Doggett & Bella Foley, Bryan Mew, Athina Uh Oh, Rachel Volisa; and Izaäk Bink & Niph.

You can expect multicultural food trucks and stalls from across the Sydney community and a range of experiences from across the many dimensions of modern culture.

The organisers acknowledge the support of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council to use the space for Mode Festival. Find out more here.
