Time Out says

Ease into the new year at this relaxed eastern suburbs party

They’re keeping New Year’s Eve simple at Nielsen Park: bring a picnic blanket, some snacks, a few drinks and gaze out over the city skyline as the fireworks colour the beginning of 2019. The vantage point of Nielsen Park is a pretty spectacular one, and you’ll get some postcard-perfect shots of the whole city from your corner of the grass.

You can call dibs on a spot on the lawn from 5.30pm with the whole family in tow at this all-ages event, with kids under five moseying on in for free. The gates do close at 12.20am on that exciting first day of the new year, so if you’ve a mind to party on elsewhere, a plan of action might be required.
