Welcome the new year with Hot Dub Time Machine and front row seats for the fireworks

They’ve kept the New Year’s Eve party at Opera Bar going for 16 years, and with every lap around the sun, the bash seems to become more popular. This year, the headline entertainment is time-warping DJ Hot Dub Time Machine. The man behind the spectacular audio-visual set, Sydney’s Tom Loud, will take NYE revellers on a journey through musical history, before the crowd leaps into 2019.

You might notice something a little different about the Opera Bar decor as you’re dancing along to decades of pop, rock, disco and house beats. Just for the countdown, the venue is restyling itself to match the streets of Havana, bringing a little lost world Cuban charm to the modern harbourside setting. Fedoras, flowing white linen and tropical prints are encouraged.

Tickets will set you back $495 and are available now, and include entry to the Sydney Opera House precinct and food throughout the evening. Doors open at 6pm and the party don’t stop till 2am.
