Usually when we're talking about midnight feasts in Sydney we're referring to the plates of pippis in XO sauce at Golden Century that are the only way to cap off an evening filled with way too many house whites at a work function. But once a year, Alpha hosts their Pascha Midnight Supper to celebrate Greek Orthodox Easter and there's a whole different vibe to be found in the city.
This isn't a rowdy after party kind of affair, but it will involve lamb shank mayeritsa, spit-roasted whole suckling lamb, tsoureki Easter bread and red dye eggs. Plus, there's extra brownie points in it because proceeds from the midnight feast are going to be donated to the soup kitchen at Newtown's Greek Orthodox Parish of Saint Constantine and Helen.
