As a part of Australia's largest photography festival Head On will host a day of insightful talks centred around photography as a career and a practice. Local and international pros will be on the ground to share their perspectives, on how a photograph can still be impactful in an over-saturated world.
Speakers will talk about how they each deliver their messages via the photographic medium, be it social, political or artistic, and share their passion for photography through image-fuelled presentations and lively discussions.
Topics include Art of Activism: Human rights and social issues; Art of Pitching: Generating your own work and gathering support; Private or Public: Pathways to selling your work; To Be or Not to Be: Brand building for your photography; Women in Conflict: Being a female photographer in a man's world; and #MeToo Fallout: Picture editors and the media.
Speakers include gallerist Megan Dick, Ted-X presenter and social entrepreneur Marcus Lyon (UK), Walkley Award winning photojournalist Kate Geraghty, award-winning conflict photojournalist Paula Bronstein (US) and many more.
