[Sponsored] Explore native Australian ingredients with a month of dining experiences in the Rocks

From macadamia nuts to finger limes, Australia is lucky to have an amazing variety of native ingredients to eat and cook with.

Get a crash course in native Australian ingredients this September when the Savour the Original Ingredients of Australia event comes to the Rocks. This month-long celebration champions the ingredients of Australia through a series of markets, cooking demonstrations, dining experiences and lots of delicious food and drink.

At the Doss House, Claudia Bowman will be pairing four Australian wines with four Australian cheeses and accompaniments on Tuesday September 25. The masterclass also includes native nibbles and a native ingredient-inspired cocktail on arrival.

For a complete sensory experience don’t miss the Great Australian Graze on Wednesday, September 5. Endeavour Tap Rooms will be opening up their rooms for a celebration of native flavours where visitors can roam through four rooms, each with a different food and drink sample inspired by Australian native ingredients. After discovering each room make your way to the Brew Bar and Courtyard for more food and drinks.

Over at Mrs Jones, resident mixologist Tommy Donnison will be hosting cocktail creation classes using native ingredients. Learn how to include Australian ingredients in your cocktails while also nibbling on snacks like kangaroo carpaccio and lamb croquettes.

Over the weekend on September 16-17, Indigiearth will be running a native food demonstration where you can learn about the tastes and medicinal properties of Aussie ingredients, while adventurous eaters can learn how to cook and eat insects at the Edible Bug Shop from September 7-9.

In addition, at the Rocks Markets, you can sample everything from Aboriginal kombucha to Turkish treats infused with native ingredients like wattle seed and macadamia. The stalls set up from 10am-5pm each Saturday and Sunday with more Indigenous flavours to explore and other locally designed fashion, jewellery, homewares and art. Plus there’s the Friday Foodies Market from 9am-3pm for more focused edible adventures.
