Why is sex and death still taboo?

When Toronto-based artist and poet Rupi Kaur uploaded a fully clothed self-portrait with a blood-stained crotch to Instagram, the social media site removed it – twice. Kaur, whose poetry and prose collection Milk and Honey is a #1 New York Times bestseller, often uses Instagram to publish new work. The incident sparked headlines around the world and divided audiences. Kaur, alongside author Brit Bennett (The Mothers) and Viola Di Grado (Hollow Heart), will talk with Serbian-Australian writer Sofia Stefanovic about why the underlying forces of our lives – sex and death – are still taboo.
