If you like your barbeque meats slow-cooked and in massive proportions, head to the Hawkesbury Showground this November. Some of the country’s biggest meatheads (in the culinary sense) will be congregating for a two-day barbecue comp.
More than 50 expert grillers, roasters and smokers will be battling it out for top gong in the Invitational BBQ Competition, which offers a hearty prize of $50,000 to whoever is crowned as king of the barbecues. They can’t let all those perfectly seasoned and basted cuts go to waste, so it’s a great chance to feast on potentially prize-winning creations across comps in butchery, steak cooking and the kids barbecue battle.
In addition to the food and drink stalls, there’ll also be eating competitions, wrestling demos, motocross stunt shows, kid-friendly carnival rides, community displays (we’re hoping for veggie animals and sugar statues) and an expo of barbecue and cooking merchandise.
