Time Out says

Ring in the most abundant of seasons by foraging in the valleys of the Southern Highlands

It's finally spring time, and we're jumping on any excuse to spend the season among nature and all its bounties.

At a half-day foraging workshop in the picturesque Kangaroo Valley, you'll find yourself on the pastures of a private farm hunting for edible plants and learning about medicinal flora you can rear in your own home – even if you've only got an urban backyard or balcony garden to work with.

Starting at 10am and finishing by 12.30pm, Jo from Quarter Acre Farm will take you through the basics – and then show you how to clean and prepare them before trying out the fruits (and vegetables) of your foraging pursuits in a poached chicken salad. You'll also get to try some salty morsels with an olive oil and olive tasting, courtesy of the fine purveyors at Kangaroo Valley Olives. It's the perfect activity as the weather warms up and the skies stay blue for longer.

Spring Wild Foraging Workshops begin on October 17, and run on Saturdays through to Noveber 28. Book in online for $95 per person.
