Sumo wrestling is a cornerstone of Japanese culture, but it’s rare to catch an authentic sumo match outside of Japan. Luckily, this August you’ll be able to see the real thing without having to hop on a plane.
Head along to Stadium Sumo at Sydney’s Cherry Blossom Festival for live sumo action. Punters will be able to meet and cheer on their favourite competitors (including pro wrestler and crowd favourite Minaminoshima and ex-Mongolian pro Hoshihikari) and learn the history and traditions of one of the world’s oldest sports.
Stadium Sumo will take place over the weekends of August 19-20 and August 26-27, with matches starting at 11.30am, 1pm and 3pm.
