This August, a week-long culinary festival will make its debut at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney’s Café Mix – and if the line-up is anything to go by, this is going to be one delicious affair.
The inaugural Taste of Indonesia Food Festival will be putting the cuisine of our northern neighbours front and centre. Helmed by special guest chefs Nur Budiono and Marjono of Jakarta’s Shangri-La Hotel – who have flown in especially for the festival – this event will feature authentic Indonesian dishes made using fresh regional ingredients.
Guests can enjoy a buffet of national dishes: there’s the classics beef rendang, nasi goreng and gado gado, plus the flavoursome udang bumbu Bali, beef makassar and soto ayam. Save room for dessert where you can try traditional southeast Asian delicacies like onde onde, kelepon and surabi.
Taste of Indonesia is available during the buffet lunch from noon to 2.30pm at $55 per person while the buffet dinner is available from 6 to 10.30pm at $85 per person.
Running from August 4 until 12, the festival at Café Mix invites you to turn up the heat and enjoy the best tastes this culinary cornerstone has to offer. Bookings are now open.
