Sydney is brimming with top-notch pubs – and the Charing Cross Hotel is one of the city’s greats. Whether you’re keen to soak up some sunshine in a breezy space or catch some stellar live music with a pub feed, this refurbished Waverley locale has got you covered.

Lovingly known as The Charo, this iconic stalwart in Sydney’s east is known for laidback dining. The madeover space comes complete with a fireplace, serving as a cosy backdrop for lunch or dinner. In the warmer months, the pub boasts two beer gardens with views back across the east into the city.

Tuck into a hearty Australian- and European-leaning menu, which stars an array of elevated classics and familiar favourites. The real deal, though? The Sunday Roast special. On offer weekly midday to 8pm, you can pair a pint or two of Guinness or Kilkenny with this generous Sunday offering, which includes all the trimmings, from $32.

Take your pick from five options: a roasted pork belly with a rich apple sauce; slow-roasted leg lamb with their in-house mint sauce; roasted sirloin with veggies and a traditional gravy; or a vegan and vegetarian option of sage- and hazelnut-stuffed Japanese pumpkin with a miso glaze and a leek and mushroom gravy. Plus, vegos can opt for a Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, too.

Weekendgoers of The Charo will get the full Sunday session treatment with lively tunes played by local talent. What more could you ask for?
