While Sydney’s harbour-front walks are a summer rite of passage, winter calls for a different approach: settling in somewhere cosy with a view. And few dining rooms deliver quite like Altitude. Situated on the 36th floor of the Shangri La Sydney, Altitude benefits from the spectacular sights of Sydney’s glittering jewels – the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Throughout July and August, the special-occasion restaurant is showcasing a winter menu that centres sustainability and native ingredients with a selection that bridges land and sea. Curated by the talented Chef de Cuisine Jason Phi Huynh and Head Pastry Chef Kumiko Endo, the menu features dishes like murray cod with roasted miso, fermented daikon and kombu butter sauce from the sea and spring ridge wild venison with black pudding, chestnut and polenta from the land. There’s also a mushroom risotto from the garden and a selection of wagyu cuts. For those who believe no feast is truly finished without a sweet treat, the winter citrus mousse – featuring yuzu mandarin mousse, chamomile meringue and blood orange sorbet – is a must.
For dinner, choose between a two- or three-course set menu, or go all in with the signature five-course chef’s tasting experience. There’s also a 500-bottle wine list to explore, with expert pairings available on request. Considering the cellar took home both Wine List of the Year and Best Wine List in a Sydney Venue at the 2026 NSW Sommelier Wine List Awards, you’ll probably want to leave the decision-making to the pros.
Whether you’re rediscovering Sydney as a local or seeing it through a visitor’s eyes, a meal at Altitude is one heck of a way to experience the city. And if you’re looking for a gift that’s guaranteed to impress, gift cards are available to purchase.
