Squash the flavours of two holidays into one meal by booking a seat at this Japanese-Mexican fusion dinner hosted by Newtown's Rising Sun Workshop and the guy behind the Ghostboy Cantina pop-ups, Toby Wilson.
The set menu (there will be a vegetarian alternative too) costs $55 per person, and will start with a sake Mojito before the tables are laden with chargrilled corn with Japanese mayo and furikake; tacos with dashi braised octopus, pickled daikon, guacachile, yuzu and coriander; and an Aztec-inspired ramen made with an ancho chilli broth with soy, lime, coriander, fried tortilla, avocado and a cheese from the Oaxaca region of Mexico.
For dessert there will be tres leches (three milks) with burnt miso caramel and corn custard.
We're thinking loose-fitting clothing is the way to go here, and you'd better book early to avoid missing out.
