If you thought Parliament House in Sydney’s CBD was strictly a place of law-making, controlling state finances and discussing matters of importance to the people of New South Wales, prepare to be pleasantly surprised by its culinary offering.

Strangers’ Restaurant, which overlooks the beautiful Domain Gardens, provides a rare opportunity for the public to enjoy a spectacular meal in the heritage-listed grounds of this revered space. And from Monday to Thursday, dining enthusiasts can feast on a three-course lunch for just $78 (or $108 with paired wines).

Executive chef Vanessa Harcourt and her talented team have designed a seasonal menu that showcases the wonderful delicacies, fresh flavours and distinct gastronomic regions of New South Wales. The restaurant also supports local farmers who practice ethical and sustainable farming methods.

Diners can expect to find everything from baked oysters to confit duck leg, pan-fried snapper fillet or burnt Basque cheesecake with blueberries on the menu, all served on the Parliamentary-crested wedgwood crockery, of course.

Parliament House has a long history of hosting esteemed guests, including heads of state, world leaders, Hollywood stars and British royalty. Among the list of famous names is the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Audrey Hepburn and the Dalai Lama.

The three-course lunch menu is available at Strangers’ Restaurant from Monday to Thursday, 12-3pm. For more information and to make a booking head to the website.
