Lockdowns and protracted rain have dampened things for a long time, but the Sydney CBD is set to cheer up this month with some free outdoor activities. Wynside Out festival – Wednesday-Thursday June 29-30, 8am-6pm – encourages attendees to participate in team challenges and collaborate in designated outdoor areas, framed by the greenery of the park itself.

The festival is split into four sections: Play, Eat, Relax and Collab. As it takes place during the week, companies can use the space for employee team building. So if you’re in that awkward transition phase going from working at home to slowly emerging back into the office, or if you just find yourself in the CBD with some time to spare, then it’s well worth checking out what Wynside Out has in store…

Head to the northern end of Wynyard Park for all-day games and corporate team challenges. Check if your aim is true with archery, try to build a corporate tower with Jenga, be strategic with Shoot Four (Connect Four with a basketball), or practise your swing on the virtual golf simulator. Dab hand at the ring toss or a table tennis champion? Here's your chance to shine.  And remember, it’s not time wasting, it’s team building!

Wynside Out’s relaxation zones offer comfy hammocks or modular seating in a lush garden setting with heaters. Here, at the ‘Cup of Life Café’ curated by Cuppa.TV’, four workshops a day will take place, delivered by an eclectic mix of expert speakers. Jo Toranto will present on working for a more sustainable future; First Nations author Paul Callaghan will explain how Indigenous thinking can change your life; mindfulness expert and motivational speaker Chelsea Pottenger will expound on how to become a mindful high performer; ex-Wiggle Greg Page will reflect on how CPR saved his life; and Dr Katrina Warren offers a 3pm ‘Pawse’ with her dog Chilli. Sports icons Layne Beachley and Kerri Pottharst will also be appearing. Local gin distillery Hickson House Gin will be showing how gin is made, how it's evolved over centuries and how to use it at home. All are free but book ahead to register your interest. Oh and you can also get a head and shoulder massage – perfect for soothing executive stress!
