The holiday season is upon us – yes, already! – and Darling Harbour is turning the dial right up with festive activities for everyone.
This Christmas period the waterside precinct will host a packed program of activities, including a Christmas Festival, Sydney's first floating Chrsitmas tree, pedal boats, craft workshops and fireworks. So, whether you’ve been naughty or nice, here’s why we think the destination should be your first stop for festive fun.
Kick off the season at the Christmas Festival going down in Tumbalong Park on December 14-15. It will feature free live music from Samantha Jade, Anthony Callea and more, tasty food trucks and a special visit from Santa. There’s also family-friendly Harbour Village popping up on December 21-22, with Christmas sing-alongs, craft workshops and lively story time sessions for the little ones. Plus, book a ticket to the classic festive rom-coms The Holiday on December 14 and Love Actually on December 21, with a live orchestra performing the scores.
Put on a santa hat and celebrate with a tour of Darling Harbour’s decorations to see it come alive with Christmas sparkle. Large-scale vertical gardens boxes will be dressed in red bows at Darling Quarter’s Living Christmas Presents; you can walk under the dazzling light installation in Darling Square for a summery selfie; and admire the 10-metre tall Floating Christmas Tree at Cockle Bay.
Soak up sunny days with a spin in a pedal boat around Cockle Bay which you can book for 30 minutes for $45. Then end your night with a bang by watching the spectacular fireworks display at Cockle Bay Wharf, which will light up the sky during December on Saturdays 7, 14 and 21.
If you’ve worked up an appetite with all the festive cheer, Darling Harbour is full of first-class dining and drinking options, with more than 150 places to celebrate. Lap up the jolly vibe of the Harbour and make some Christmas memories.
