Since its launch in 2005, Wild Oats XI has become the most successful competitor in the Sydney to Hobart race’s 73-year history – it’s probably the only yacht most regular folk can identify by name.
This Australia Day long weekend, the public will have the chance to climb on board the legendary maxi yacht themselves when it visits the National Maritime Museum for three days.
Members of the yachting team will be on hand to teach visitors about what life on the high seas is like, and guide them through the innovative structure and design that have made the vessel an aesthetic and technological triumph.
