We don’t know about you but we’re in a mood to celebrate. Travel is once again possible, dancing is allowed again, restaurants and theatres are open…. after a shaky start, 2022 is shaping like much more of a good time than 2021.
To help get us back to enjoying our local neighbourhoods, the NSW Government through Investment NSW (home of our friend and columnist, 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, Michael Rodrigues) has joined forces with local councils to stage a string of free street parties aptly named Your Street, Your Party.
The latest on is in Angel Place in the CBD on Saturday August 27. Get some mates together and head in for live entertainment including musicians, DJs and roving artists. Experience the sexy sounds of Sax Beatz. Gramophone Man, a one-man band, will play hits from the 1920s, '30s and '40s on his gramophone. Sydney’s queen of House, DJ Kate Monroe, is also performing a set, and fabulous DJ drag queen Hollywould will be bringing some old-school tunes, disco and cabaret spot numbers.
There’ll also be plenty of places to sit and enjoy food and drinks from Angel Place’s local hospitality businesses. Picco Leo will be open and serving delicious takeaway pastries along with Merivale’s spectacular pop-up bar.
This is a free event and will commence at midday, going through to 7pm.
