Time Out says

Action and adventure in the wilderness are just one hour’s drive from central Sydney

This spring is the perfect time to take a break out of the city. Head one hour north of Sydney’s CBD to one of the city’s best-kept secrets for a day of action, adventure and adrenaline in the wilderness.

Nestled in a scenic valley amidst the Central Coast hinterland lies Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures, Australia’s largest horse riding and outdoor adventure centre. Spend a day or an entire weekend at Glenworth Valley and you won’t be disappointed. The property itself is a spectacular 3,000-acre wilderness property featuring some stunning scenery providing a picture perfect backdrop for the activities that Glenworth Valley is renowned for.

Australia’s largest horse riding centre, Glenworth Valley has 200 horses to ride with free-range riding for experienced horse riders and guided trail rides along the 50km of scenic bush trails for all levels of riders, including first timers. The riding trails take in the valley’s spectacular natural rockpools of Popran Creek, rainforest areas and rock formations. For those after an extra special day out on horseback, the popular gourmet picnic ride is a guided trail ride including a gourmet picnic lunch and ending with wine and cheese tasting on the veranda of the property’s homestead.

If you’re after a faster-paced adventure, quad biking at Glenworth Valley is another popular activity. Feel the rush on the 1.5 hour quad biking tour through bush trails and step it up a gear at the purpose-built quad biking track for the most fun you can have on four wheels. And if the adrenalin still isn’t flowing after a quad biking adventure, then try your hand at abseiling. Glenworth Valley’s abseiling sites have spectacular views over Popran Creek, the valley and surrounding National Park and there are a range of descents for abseilers to take on, including an open air descent beside a rainforest waterfall.

Extend your stay with a picnic or BBQ by the river, a swim in the rockpools of Popran Creek or spend the night under the stars and around a campfire in the 200-acre riverfront camping area. This is camping with the convenience of toilets, hot showers and wood-fired BBQs.

Reserve your activities in advance as activities often book out, especially on weekends and during holiday periods.
