[title]For more than half a century Gerhard Richter has navigated almost every painting style –sprawling abstract works, intimate portraits, lush landscapes, intuitive overpainted photographs – you name it, there's a good chance Richter's put his brush to it. Now, this deep dive into the German painter's work will be on show at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, capturing Richter’s ability to shift and play with form and style.
Drawing on works from public and private collections from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, the exhibition, exclusive to Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, will showcase more than 90 artworks. It will also include a room devoted to the 400-panel extract from Richter’s encyclopaedic archival project ATLAS 1962-ongoing, including photographs, sketches, collages and cuttings that he has drawn on for inspiration.
Gerhard Richter: The Life of Images is open daily from Oct 14 - Feb 4, at the Gallery of Modern Art, Stanley Place, South Bank Brisbane. Tickets start at $14 for members, and $18 for general entry.
