The latest mixed-use development at Tokyo’s financial district of Marunouchi, Nijubashi Building is just a short stroll away from Tokyo Station. Its first few floors, dubbed Nijubashi Square, are home to some of the top brands in the world – think JM Weston, Diptyque and Goldwin – as well as a host of interesting eateries.

While the number of outlets here pale in comparison to the nearby Kitte or Marunouchi Building, what Nijubashi Square lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in cool factor as a number of the restaurants here are new to Tokyo and Japan. Here are our top five places to eat and drink at Nijubashi Square.

Tokyo welcomes a brand new modern dim sum bistro by famed UK-based restaurateur Alan Yau, who's best known for his restaurants Wagamama and Hakkasan. Yaumay offers a well-curated dim sum menu that offer both the classics and new creations; steamed favourites including shrimp har gao and siu mai feature alongside original items such as venison puffs, Peking duck dumplings and grilled ibérico jamón.

The interior design also reflect this updated approach to dim sum. The spacious restaurant is anchored by an island counter surrounding the bustling show kitchen, a concept inspired by many a Tokyo counter-style (ramen) restaurants. The table dining space, on the other hand, is a nod to a classic Parisian bistro...
