Food and drinks pairings are trending at the moment, and you can now experience your meal with Strongbow Apple Ciders. One of the city’s most prominent chefs, James Won has created a three-course degustation menu to pair with Strongbow’s three variants of apple ciders, namely the Gold, Honey and Elderflower. This menu is priced at RM298++, inclusive of the Strongbow pairing.

James Won’s degustation menu takes inspiration from the crisp apple cider and also from local dishes, but updated with modern cooking techniques. The amuse-bouche (pictured above) is an interesting apple macaron that’s more savoury than sweet, thanks to the addition of caviar. The first course, on the other hand, is more familiar as it’s an inspired take on yong tau foo. This mushroom tofu served with Hokkaido scallop, sea eel, dehydrated mushroom and spring onion kombu dashi is paired with the bright Strongbow Gold apple cider.

The next dish – confit chicken stuffed with black truffle pâté, puffed sago, dehydrated leek, wood ear mushroom gastrique and roasted chilli sauce – is a good match for the Strongbow Honey apple cider. The earthiness of the truffle goes well with the cider’s honeyed sweetness. And for the main course (pictured above), you’ll get a Canadian lobster tail in elderflower beurre blanc, pearly barley risotto, asparagus and confit lemon and strawberries. This is paired with Strongbow Elderflower as the floral notes from the drink complement the delicate sweetness of the crustacean.

Dessert (pictured above) is an add-on: For an extra RM28, you’ll get James Won’s take on ais krim potong made with the Strongbow ciders and served with a host of condiments such as assam boi jelly, honeycomb, chocolate sauce and more.

If that’s not enough, you can also order two specialty cocktails (RM68++ each) created by mixologists Jeffri S. The Woodfire is a Christmassy drink as it mixes Strongbow Honey with vodka, cinnamon and grapefruit; the cinnamon reminds us of freshly baked pastries. In contrast, the Dream Geisha is fresh on the palate; the use of Strongbow Elderflower with fresh juices makes it more of an apéritif.

You can experience James Won’s degustation menu with Strongbow Apple Ciders pairing, as well as the Strongbow cocktails, at Enfin by James Won. Until Aug 31.
