Carlsberg gets crafty with Brooklyn's beers

As craft beer continues to gain popularity in Malaysia, it was only a matter of time before major beer brands started to get in on the action. Carlsberg Malaysia recently announced its partnership with New York-based craft beer producers Brooklyn Brewery – the 11th largest in the US – to distribute their beer in the country.

The partnership is the sixth joint-venture between the two brewers, following partnerships to distribute the beer in Sweden, Norway, London, Hong Kong and Lithuania. While the brewery has an extensive line-up of craft beers, Malaysians can only get their hands on two for now: the Brooklyn Lager and Brooklyn East IPA. The lager is one of the brewery’s signatures, having claimed top spot at the Great American Beer Tasting in 1989, and known for being a light and aromatic hoppy lager that has a crisp bitterness.  The East IPA, on the other hand, leans heavier on the hops but is a well-balanced India pale ale that goes well with spicy and heavy foods like grilled prawns, fried chicken and other pub grub – but be warned, this one packs a deceptive punch with a 6.9 percent ABV content.

The Brooklyn Lager and Brooklyn East IPA are available in 355ml bottles and sold at The Brew House, Meja at TREC and Sunway Velocity, Tavern 13, Chequers at Mont Kiara, The Merchant, Suzie Wong and Nicsmann 1940s By Lewré. Visit Carlsberg Malaysia’s Facebook page for more information.
