How about a sleepover at a bookstore?

By Time Out KL editors

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Airbnb.

Immersing yourself in books will take on a whole new meaning with this partnership between Airbnb and BookXcess. Together, the world’s largest community-driven hospitality company and Malaysia’s very own beloved bookstore BookXcess is offering you a chance to spend the night at BookXcess’ newest (and biggest) outlet.

Airbnb will work their magic on BookXcess Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya and transform it into an exclusive bedroom for one night only. The 37,000 sq ft space houses over 500,000 books, and you’ll have all that to yourself (and a friend) to explore, stay the night and fall asleep among greats such as Tolkien, Austen and Kafka.

But that’s not it. This novel experience includes a book club session (hosted by BFM's Umapagan Ampikaipakan) where you can discuss with like-minded individuals about books that inspire you to travel the most, and a chance to experience a day in the life of a bookstore manager – from an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour on how to run a bookstore and working the register to learning how to pick books and interacting with customers. Plus, there will be a Grab & Go session where you’ll have two minutes to grab as many books you can to take home! To cap off, you’ll end your getaway with a hyper local Airbnb Experience.

The stay will be for the night of Saturday, September 29, 2018, and is an all-expenses paid trip by Airbnb including return trips (and air fares if necessary) for winners from anywhere in Malaysia. To join, all you have to do is create an Airbnb account, ‘book’ Sleepover at BookXcess, and tell the ‘host’ what your favourite book is (genre and title included) to bring when you travel and why, by September 20, 2018. Head to their website for the full contest details, terms and conditions.

With this campaign, Airbnb is looking to encourage building a connection between you as a traveller and local Airbnb hosts and their bookshelves when you visit, promoting a connective and sustainable way of travelling. Closer to home, this project also aims to empower local businesses by collaborating with them – aside from BookXcess, familiar names Kedai Bikin, Real.m, Tish Lifestyle, Hive Remedies and Roots Remedies have all lent a hand in building up and furnishing the space for the sleepover.

Submit your entries by September 20, 2018 for a stay on the night of September 29, 2018. Head to the Airbnb listing to find out how.
