The new, RM38million Zouk KL finally opens along Jalan Tun Razak. Here's a look inside the superclub's 11 rooms.
Zouk Main Room
The biggest room in Zouk KL – it’s 6,574 sq ft to be exact – is the hub and heart of the superclub, decorated with visual displays and over a million LED bulbs. For the real deal clubbing experience, it pumps out electronic dance music, techno and trance beats from its Funktion-One state-of-the-art sound system.
You can slip into this mini club via the side staircase from Zouk Main Room as Ace takes over as the new Barsonic of the old Zouk. The room caters to the younger crowd, featuring hip hop on Friday nights and indie on Saturday nights brought to you by Indiego & Co. The room is decked with sparkly upholstery and you’ll be in awe of the island bar dominating the centre of the room.
A playground for the crème de la crème of KL elite and socialites, the 5,700 sq ft Velvet Underground is still lush, plush and posh, churning out commercial house and open format tunes. This is the place to see and be seen, and it’s as beautiful as its crowd: accents of deep indigo and velvety hues; a feature wall made of protruding resin blocks reflecting bronze and other metals; and upholstered velvet furniture.
Imperial is exclusive – if the rare bottles on display don’t give it away, maybe the champagne bar will. Classy looks aside, the VIP treatment is what makes it special: concierge services, private security and personal table hosts. The room is also connected to the Member’s Lounge through a slide. The music here will be house and EDM with resident DJs Miss Kiya (Fridays) and Ken Master (Wednesdays).
The mood here is pretty laidback considering that Apex is a lounge rather than a dance floor. Sit back by the large windows for a view of the city with a drink in hand and slowly bob your head (as indie rockers do) to nu disco, indie and classic tunes curated by DJ Blink. For light bites, they also have a Japanese tapas menu.
For those who want to enjoy the party without a crowd, the Balcony Deck is for you. The outdoor deck is connected to Imperial, and features Miss Kiya on decks every Friday night. You’ll get a view of the Royal Selangor Golf Club at the same time.
The intimate Member’s Lounge is located between Phuture and Velvet Underground. You can choose to enter via the front door or slide down from Imperial above it.
Zouk Café Bar
The ideal pit stop for food and drinks before hitting the dance floor, Zouk Café Bar offers local and Western cuisines.
Just as its name implies, the decor here is futuristic with blue lights and space-like structures, so party here like you’re on the set of ‘Tron’.
If you’re throwing a party, go for the Glass Box located near the Balcony Deck. The box fits up to 30 people and overlooks the Royal Selangor Golf Club’s golf course.
The alfresco side of Zouk Café Bar, this is the ideal place for pre-party drinks.
KL's iconic superclub has left its 11-year-old Jalan Ampang address to move into its shiny new RM38-million home. The new Zouk comprises several clubs, a VIP bar lounge, member's lounge, café and rooftop deck, with adequate parking facilities, private lifts, VIP concierge, various function rooms, a medical bay and more. There's even a dedicated lane for tourists. Look forward to a lineup of international DJ gigs on top of Zouk's weekly club nights and themed parties. Entry rates are from RM25 to RM60 according to room and is inclusive of one housepour.
