Since making a splash in the scene when it opened in 2017, Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar has consistently wowed diners with its ambitious menu, creative flavours and impressive cocktails. Add to that the eatery’s chic settings and eclectic vibe, and you’ve got the winning combination that sets the stage for a great night out.

For something a little different this festive season, Mr Chew’s festive menus have taken a decidedly Asian slant this year, with creative new dishes that have been specifically created for the festivities.

Christmas Eve (RM250++) at Mr Chew’s will see diners indulging in an assortment of dishes. Appetisers like poached Irish oysters with tau fu fah and mee sua sauce start the meal nicely, followed by Mr Chew’s Famous Taco with baby scallops. Next up are Buns & Fried Stuff like pan-seared foie gras with mui choy, and the Bigger Things (the mains) section of the menu include oven-roasted sting ray and grilled lamb shoulder with gochujang pineapple. End the meal on a sweet note with Desserts like Mr Chew’s corn tamales, horchata ice cream and a cactus log.

On Christmas Day, Mr Chew’s is serving a festive brunch (RM140++) with a wide variety of Small Plates, Bigger Things and Desserts. Begin your feast with entrées like fresh Irish oysters, zucchini flower tempura and more. Move on to the Bigger Things like barbecued Dorper lamb ribs and grilled spice-marinated chicken. Desserts see options like yam tarts, red date Christmas puddings, steamed nian gao and more.

Mr Chew’s is ending the year with a bang with two seating options on New Year’s Eve (first seating, RM220++; second seating, RM350++). The menus are similar in offerings, and diners in the second seating get to stay back for the countdown party after! Usher in the new year with Mr Chew at the countdown party (RM100nett) from 10pm onwards; supper included. The countdown party is also available as a stand-alone option.

The menus begin with some Salad & Raw Stuff – think fresh Irish oysters with salted sea urchin eggs, and steamed aubergine with som tam vegetables, and more. This selection of appetisers paves the way nicely for the ensuing courses.

Next, diners will enjoy Mr Chew’s Famous Taco with half-seared mackerel and smoked ikura, and Fried Stuff like Pacific flying squid with fromage blanc, and sautéed wagyu karubi with yuzu aioli. If you’ve opted for the second seating menu, there’s an additional option of popiah with teriyaki shishamo with enoki.

Mains (or Bigger Things) will see a hearty lamb shank with a fragrant coconut curry, grilled tiger prawns with a green mango and kicap manis dressing. For Dessert, the chefs at Mr Chew’s have whipped up an interesting dish of chocolate noodles served with sesame ice cream and crystalised sesame and pine nuts.

To celebrate the year that has passed and to welcome the coming year, Mr Chew is hosting a countdown party with guest DJ Oddjob. At the party, the supper menu specially arranged for New Year’s Eve will be served, and it’s made up a selection of Mr Chew’s popular options like the nori taco with salmon and mentaiko mayo; chicken ribs; barley, bean curd and corn porridge; and a special dessert bao.
