The holy month of Ramadan is a time of prayer and reflection for Muslims all around the world. And with that also comes a period of fasting from March 12 to April 9, with Hari Raya Puasa falling on April 10 this year.

But come sunset, it's time to come together with friends and family to break fast and bond over a good meal. So if you're looking for a place to gather in a big group in KL, here are some restaurants to visit for impressive buffet spreads and delectable dinners during Iftar. As always, be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

Celebrate nostalgia this Ramadan with a journey back in time through Sheraton Imperial's Nostalgic Retro Ramadan Buffet. Featuring timeless recipes and classic Raya dishes, the buffet is sure to please the whole family. Highlights include include the telur ikan mayong, gulai kawah rusuk kambing and cendol fusion cake.

Grand Cita Rasa Buffet: March 18 to April 9 

This Ramadan, the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur invites guests to embark on a culinary journey through Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.

The Selera Nusantara buffet at JP teres on the ground floor of the hotel explores the flavours of the archipelago with dishes like sata ikan Terengganu, nasi katok ayam goreng and warong penyet.

Over at the hotel's Grand Ballroom, the Grand Cita Rasa Buffet highlights the varied flavours of Malaysia including plenty of seafood and a rich array of kampung nelayan (fisherman's village) delights. Think flower crabs, bamboo clams, black mussels, and bubuk lambuk daging.

Located within the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Riverside Cafe & Restaurant is a haven for lovers of Malay cuisine. This Ramadan, the cafe is looking to spoil its guests with over 300 dishes. From the irresistible kerabu salad to mouth-watering lemang, the cafe promises an exciting array of dishes that are sure to satisfy any tastebud. Pepper-fried catfish, basil leaf rendang prawns and peanut butter octopus are just some of the unusual highlights you can expect.

Situated in Titiwangsa, the White & Black Lakeside restaurant offers guests a breathtaking view to break fast. Here, guests can enjoy a cool breeze and nice scenery as the eatery is located by a lakeside. 

But what’s more, White & Black Lakeside restaurant’s menu comes with a variety of food choices. Guests have the choice of indulging in both Asian and Western dishes. 

The Western dishes include Aglio Olio Spaghetti, Macaroni Lasagna, and Pizza. Whereas, the Asian dishes include Curry Mee, Chicken Soto, and Satay.

March 14 to March 31 

Break a long day fast with an all-you-can-eat buffet at Artisan Playground, starting from RM90 per diner. It has over 100 mouth-watering cuisines – from grilled beef ribeye to live-cooked seafood paella. New dishes on their menu this year include lobster rolls, a wagyu don, beef wellington and prawn cocktails. And if you have kids, be sure to bring them along – children under three dine for free while kids between four and seven dine at a discounted price.

Head over to Dolly Dim Sum if you are looking for something light. The popular dim sum joint has two buka puasa specials on its menu – the Moonlit Bao Bites and Twilight Blue Pea Mocktail.

The Moonlit Bao Bites are famous Shanghainese pan-fried sesame-laced buns stuffed with juicy black pepper chicken. The Twilight Blue Pea Mocktail, on the other hand, is a refreshing blue-purple chilled mocktail of organic butterfly pea flower-infused tea with zesty orange and apple.

D’Kayangan Steamboat is feeling generous this Ramadan. Their upcoming Riang Ria Ramadan menu is a feast, offering diners a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetable selections for their steamboats.

Owned by renowned Malaysian chef Ismail Ahmad, Restoran Rebung Chef Ismail is a popular choice for breaking fast with a buffet thanks to its endless array of traditional Malay and international dishes. There are over 10 sections available at this buffet joint, each offering a distinct flavour from all around the world. Popular items include murtabak ayam, popia basah, rojak buah, and ikan celup tepung.
