Get on the DLR: street food paradise is coming to Woolwich

Woolwich isn’t known as a gastronomic go-to, but that’s about to change.

On Friday, Street Feast is opening the doors to a new food hall in SE18. It’s called Public and it’s housed in a covered market dating back to the 1930s, complete with a beautiful arched roof and an enormous floor area – which is handy because the trader line-up is going to draw droves of hungry punters in. Street Feast regulars Yum Bun, Yumplings, Burger & Beyond and Ink are joined by newbies Salt Shed, Henhaus, Lava Bar (from the guys behind You Doughnut) and a local favourite: Rust Bucket Pizza Co.

Unsurprisingly the re/dehydration options are also plentiful, with everything from frozen piña coladas to natural wines. If you haven’t eaten yourself immobile, pot a few shots at the pool deck or get stuck into the secret activities the Street Feast team will be hosting in their underground tunnel. South London sceptics, it’s time to swallow your words and hop on the DLR.

Here's our guide to London's best street food, in case you're nowhere near Woolwich.
