While we’ve got a soft spot for Stansted, there’s nothing like boarding a train in Zone 1 and shooting straight to the heart of a foreign city – and from this spring you can add another destination to the list. Eurostar has finally announced the start date for its extension to Amsterdam, and we’re dead excited.

The route opens on April 4, with two trains running per day. Travelling outbound, you’ll arrive in Amsterdam in just three hours and 41 minutes, or Rotterdam in just a minute over three hours. (At first, for boring passport-related reasons, the return journey will include a change in Brussels – but the whole journey will still take less than five hours, and they’re hoping to run direct trains by the end of next year.)

Tickets for the new route go on sale on February 20, with one-way fares starting at £35. If you need us, we’ll be sipping Amstel by a canal somewhere.
