From the chic ‘90s outfits to the cast featuring a young Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Michelle Gellar, ‘Cruel Intentions’ is one of the most iconic films of the late twentieth century. Inspired by the French novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, the film follows three privileged Manhattan teenagers in a tale full of backstabbing and conniving. You could say ‘Cruel Intentions’ walked so ‘Gossip Girl’ could run.

It’s been announced that the ‘90s flick is getting the West End treatment and will be launching on stage in London in January 2024. The jukebox musical will be packed full of ‘90s bangers, including Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle’, Britney Spears’ ‘Sometimes’, TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, and Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’.

Following successful runs on Broadway and at the Edinburgh Fringe, the show will be transferring to London’s stage. The cast for ‘Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical’ hasn’t been announced yet, but we know it will be running from January 11 to April 14 2024 on the Other Palace stage.

Roger Kumble, the film’s director, said: ‘The perfect 25th anniversary celebration of my 1999 film about a pair of hedonistic Manhattan step-siblings is seeing it re-imagined on the London stage as a musical. It’s an amazing show with a soundtrack loaded with all the greatest ‘90s guilty pleasure songs. Even people who hate musicals will love it.’
