September is going to be a good month for London gamers. Last week we revealed that a huge new neon arcade is set to debut on the South Bank, complete with real-life Pac-Man, a neon maze and a new Alien Invasion game. Now retro arcade bar group NQ64 has just announced that it’s expanding its presence in the Big Smoke, opening its biggest ever venue in Soho next month.
A huge array of arcade cabinets including Guitar Hero and classic pinball will line the walls alongside free-play consoles like Nintendo 64, GameCube and the original PlayStation. Claw machines, UV pool tables and even augmented reality darts will boost the gaming line-up.
Expect a neon-splattered bar to serve up arcade-inspired drinks like the Quick Revive No.5 (a nod to the Call of Duty perk) and a frozen Deadshot Daiquiri. On the alcohol-free side, there will also be CBD-infused cocktails.
The new venue, which will take over the space formerly home to Soho club Orange Yard on Manette Street, is set to open on September 11.
NQ64 was founded in Manchester's Northern Quarter in 2019, and has locations across the UK in Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Bristol, Nottingham and Newcastle. It has London arcade bars in Berwick Street and Shoreditch.
