Sparks are flying and fireworks are banging, which means November's here, bringing us heaps of new things to do. Light up your Saturday with these five marvellous events. Practise your ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ at Blackheath Fireworks, laugh your head off at a sex comedy night or keep the scares coming at a rare screening of a classic vampire film. 

1. Blackheath Fireworks

2. Patti Smith in Conversation

3. Sex Standing Up Comedy

SEX! That got your attention, right? Get ready for an evening of lols and listen to funny stories about people getting the clap at this comedy night held in a sex toy emporiumSh! Women's Erotic Emporium. Tube: Old Street. Sat Nov 2. £12.50. 

4. The HallowQueen Ball: ‘The Hunger’

Go for a rare screening of Tony Scott’s cult vampire favourite and be sure to stick around for the epic HallowQueen Ball afterwards. The Fox and Firkin. DLR: Lewisham. Sat Nov 2. Sales have ended online but tickets still available on the door. £5 entry, £5 cinema. 

5. ‘Albert Oehlen’

You know when something’s not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good? Well, that’s certainly the case with artist Albert Oehlen, who makes terrible paintings on purpose. See and decide for yourself, and if nothing else, try his coffee-tea hybrid: it’s absolutely revolting. Serpentine Gallery. Tube: Hyde Park Corner. Until Sun Feb 2. Free.
