The founder of Hackney vegan restaurant Facing Heaven and adjacent dive bar Easy 8 has branched out into all-day dining with this spot inspired by the food and restaurants of LA’s vast and varied immigrant communities. ‘As Mexican, Jewish, Greek, and Japanese enclaves popped up all over Southern California,’ says California-raised Julian Denis, ‘so developed a movement of family-run, DIY eateries that became neighbourhood focal points and second homes for many people growing up in these communities, just as they did for me’.
It’s open for breakfast on the weekends (come for breakfast burritos and chilaquiles) and for dinner Wednesday through to Sunday, where you can land crab tostada, patty melts and pastrami dip sandwiches.
