Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

4 out of 5 stars
Theatre Drama Palace Theatre, Charing Cross Road

Tickets to this massively popular 'Harry Potter' stage show used to be rarer than dragon eggs. Luckily, they're a bit easier to come by these days; Jack Thorne's smart, firmly-unkitsch duo of Potter sequels is ready to satisfy J K Rowling fans of all ages.

Matilda the Musical

4 out of 5 stars
Theatre Musicals Cambridge Theatre, Seven Dials

If you haven't made it to this gleefully anarchic treat of a musical, the Easter hols could be the time to get cracking. Roald Dahl's story is full of enough silliness, poignancy and wry digs at pushy parents to delight audiences of all ages. Ages five-plus.

Wicked

4 out of 5 stars
Theatre West End Apollo Victoria, Victoria

With flying witches and a giant, fire-breathing dragon coiling its way over the stage, this long-running musical is calculated to thrill fantasy-loving kids. It's a 'Wizard of Oz' rewrite that's packed full of memorable songs, not least its breakout hit 'Defying Gravity'.
