Home is at the heart of Italian life – and of The House of Peroni Residency. Inspired by the theme ‘Vita all’Interno’ (‘A Life Lived Inside’), top Italian and international creative talents have been invited to contribute to this bi-annual free celebration of contemporary Italian food, drink, culture and style, featuring bars, private dining, art installations and immersive performances.

Suz Mountfort of secret dining club Gingerline worked with storytelling group Reuben Feels to create a unique evening for each visitor. When you enter, you can purchase a set of keys to unlock engaging experiences waiting to be discovered around The Residency, created by set designer Rhea Thierstein and paper artist Francesca Signori, who have turned the rooms into walk-through art installations.

Chef Accursio Craparo has devised an aperitivo menu and a six-course dinner, presented as an immersive experience that brings out the rituals and passions of Italian home life. Craparo and top London mixologist Simone Caporale are The House of Peroni’s resident tastemakers. Here are some of the highlights.

Flavours of home

Aperitivo platter

Aperitivo platter

Reflecting the best in traditional Italian home cooking, sharing plates include La Terrazza (fried artichoke, potato purée and pennyroyal), La Cucina (meatballs with potato purée) and U Dammusu (pistachio crumble with cream cheese and raspberries).

The centrepiece of Craparo’s six-course dinner is roasted quail, chicken liver pâté, black truffle, hazelnuts and pomegranate. ‘Game in Italy has an important role and features in Italian noble culture. This type of dish shows the host wants to make a guest feel important,’ he says.

Another of the eight infusions Simone has crafted for The Residency, combining Peroni Nastro Azzurro and chinotto – a bitter orange from Sicily and southern Italy that gives its distinctive flavour to soft drinks and amaro apéritifs.

Madre Biancha

Evoking the fresh scents of washday and Italian mothers’ dazzling white linen billowing in the breeze, this Peroni Nastro Azzurro infusion has blossom and woodland notes that accentuate the beer’s crisp, clean finish. Garnished with coriander.

Negroni Autunno

This is a twist on the classic negroni inspired by the Italian kitchen. Peroni Nastro Azzurro is infused with soft citrus notes in a bittersweet serve and garnished with dried bresaola or veggie crisp, and a nocellara olive.
