2016's most Instagrammed places in L.A.

We've told you the L.A. restaurants that are Instagram all-stars and the most quintessential spots for posting a selfie, but we're now learning where the masses have truly been Instagramming from this year in L.A.—and it's not where you might think. CNN broke down this year's Instagram trends, from #pizza and #sushi being the second and third most popular food hashtags (#turkey takes the top spot, but the news outlet predicts it could be because it's also the name of a country) to the most geotagged cities in the world, with L.A. landing in the number six spot.

What may be more surprising is where exactly people are Instagramming within L.A. The Santa Monica Pier is the eighth most Instagrammed location in the world. LACMA beat out the Broad on the list of the top Instagrammed museums globally, landing in the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

But here's what really blew our minds. On the list of the most Instagrammed restaurants in the U.S. (yes, the country, not just L.A.) the San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant landed in the seventh spot, beating out Downtown's Perch (10th place) and topped by only one other L.A. restaurant, Nobu Malibu, which is all the way at the top of the list in second place. That's right, the Ports O' Call restaurant in San Pedro beat out all the hip, trendy spots in L.A. to become the seventh most Instagrammed restaurant in the country

We were so impressed and curious, we decided to round up some of our favorite posts from the San Pedro Fish Market. Congratulations everyone!
