5 new happy hour deals to combat this heat

We can think of a couple of things that might help with this stifling heat: Air conditioning. Cannonballing into your closest pool. Cocktails. To help you out with that last one, we've rounded up a couple spots that are offering brand new happy hours with refreshing summer cocktails at affordable prices. Your electric bill might break the bank this month, but your happy hour bill is looking just fine.

L'Ami (Santa Monica): This charming French eatery in Santa Monica recently launched happy hour, and is offering a slightly elevated interpretation of bar food. Small bites, which are all $10, range from salmon tartar to a mezze appetizer, popcorn shrimp to an assorted cheese plate. Pair with $9 glasses of exceptional wine, or cocktails that include the Gold Rush (bourbon, honey syrup and organic lemon juice) or Shades of Green (vodka, pressed cucumber juice and organic lime juice). Daily 5:30-7pm

Hinoki & the Bird (Century City): At first glance, it doesn't look like you'll be saving a ton of money on this deal—$20 for a burger and drink? But the Okonomiyaki Burger, which comes courtesy of executive chef Brandon Kida, is as gourmet as they come. Hot pepper relish, okonomiyaki aioli, tonkatsu sauce and sharp cheddar cover the burger, held between a decadent honey potato bun. To wash it down, choose from beer, wine or a Miyagi Mule, all for $20. Tue-Fri 5:30-6:30pm

Eveleigh (West Hollywood): Offered in the front bar and patio section of this West Hollywood favorite, the appropriately named Bar & Garden happy hour offers signature cocktails for $8, wines in a carafe for $10 and bottled cocktails, beer and select nibbles like lamb meatballs for $9, or the Eveleigh Burger Jr. for $12. Sign us up! Mon-Fri 5-7pm

Hanjip (Culver City): Soju cocktails. Hot wings. Seafood pancakes. Hanjip's new happy hour is enough of a meal to fill you up, with dishes that range from $6-$12 and drinks from $2 soju shots to $9 beers. There's a fun watermelon soju with Fruity Pebbles and Pop Rocks that isn't on the happy hour menu, but you can splurge on it with all the money you're saving. Daily 4:30-6:30pm

Ocean Prime (Beverly Hills): Ocean Prime has a solid weekday happy hour to begin with—$8 cocktails, $5 off small plates and sushi—but their new Summer Fridays deal is a real treat. In addition to $10 glasses of Veuve Clicquot & Moet Imperial Rose, diners can order $10 sushi rolls and $1 oysters for a swanky—but affordable—afternoon treat. Fri 3-10pm
