All the best tacos in L.A. were at our Tacos and Tequila party last night

Last night, we joined hundreds of Angelenos to show our amor for all things agave-based and tortilla-wrapped at Time Out L.A.’s Tacos and Tequila party. Eight of our favorite taquerias from across the region gathered under one roof and attendees ate, drank delicious Hornitas tequila cocktails and danced to festive tunes into the night.

It all went down in a beautiful event space at Candela La Brea Taco Bar and Lounge. Candela’s chefs worked the home-kitchen advantage with their own station serving up their governador taco with garlic-sautéed shrimp and melted cheese. They were joined by an array of scrumptious meat, seafood and vegetarian tacos from Tlayuda L.A., Little Llama Peruvian Tacos, La Flor de Yucatan, Chicas Tacos, the Walrus and the Hedgehog, Loteria Grill and Mas Malo.

They say man cannot live on tacos alone and, while we’re not totally sure we agree, guests accompanied their taco feast with Echo Park street corn (on individual sticks for easy eating while making the party rounds) from Mas Malo and refreshing paletas by Si! Paletas in watermelon-basil, Mexican Coke float and, of course, tequila sunrise versions.

Tequila was the star of the bar, thanks to a menu of cocktails featuring Hornitos silver and reposado tequilas, crafted by Cocktail Academy. There were fresh and fizzy Palomas and spicy green pepper-infused margaritas to wash down all the tacos—and maybe help fuel the dance party powered by DJ Marcus and a surprise mariachi band guest.

Attendees were also entertained with a pop-up craft station by Maker’s Mess, an adorable Hollywood Bowl-themed photo booth brought by our friends at the L.A. Phil, a spot to learn about Best Friends Animal Society and more fun surprises throughout the night.

Thank you to all our fantastic vendors, sponsors—and most of all guests—for making this one a taquiza to remember!
