Fly to Israel from LAX for under $200 with WOW's super-cheap new fares

These days it seems like airlines offering crazy-cheap flights to Europe are popping up left and right, but one of those low-cost carriers just announced an expansion we didn’t see coming. Icelandic discount airline WOW Air is set to begin offering $199 flights from LAX to Israel.

Flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport will launch on September 12 and have just gone on sale, so it looks like the time to plan your autumn or winter vacation is already here.

“Visitors from all over the world continue to be attracted to the unique city of Tel Aviv, and we are honored to have the opportunity to offer travel from the United States in a more efficient way with the best possible prices,” Skúli Mogensen, CEO of WOW, told CBS Los Angeles.

Like all of WOW’s flights, there is one catch to these cheap fares—or maybe it’s an upgrade, depending on how you look at it. Before you get to Tel Aviv you’ll have to make a stopover in Reykajavik, Iceland along the way. That stopover can be as short as a few hours if you choose, or you can get out of the airport and extend your stay in Iceland for as long as you want, taking advantage of a program the airline calls the WOW Stopover (we think we would call it getting two cool travel destinations for the price of one).

If your favorite travel companions don’t live in L.A., don’t worry. Fares of $199 (or even as low as $149) will be simultaneously launching from all of WOW’s U.S. gateways, including Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and New York City.
