Friday

Get an early start to summer with the seasonal kickoff of Jazz at LACMA. Take a seat in the museum's beloved entrance plaza for a free performance from the Eric Reed Quartet.

Afterward, head up the street for a headlining set from Tig Notaro at Largo. A master of dry humor and observational comedy, Notaro is simply a must-see stand-up and storyteller.

Make it a late night at the Arts District's Lot 613 for the Pancakes & Booze Art Show. While this exhibition features more than 150 up-and-coming artists, we'll admit that its biggest draw lies in its name: free flapjacks and a little bit of giggle juice.

Saturday

Stock up on handmade wares and kitten cuddles—via an on-site adoption drive—on Saturday at BUST Craftacular. The shopping event is bringing 45 craft vendors to the Arts District's Superchief Gallery, including a DIY nail art bar and a flower crown station.

Just down the street, satisfy your sweet tooth at the MAST Brothers Chocolate opening party. From 11am until 5pm, you'll be able to stop by for a free tour and tastings of chocolate, beer, bars and cookies.

Travel to the other side of Downtown for the Grand Park Downtown Bookfest. This bookworm's Shangri-La is bringing poetry, a local pop-up bookshop, food, tunes and more to the urban park.

Afterward, partake in a bird-watching session over some booze as Upstairs celebrates LA Bird Day. Audubon California will be on-hand at the rooftop bar with binoculars, a spotting scope, field guides and their bottomless bird-watching knowledge.

Have the time of your life as Eat|See|Hear starts its outdoor movie season with a screening of Dirty Dancing. Saturday night's screening at Santa Monica High School includes music from Summer Twins and a slew of food trucks.

Hungry? Have a late-night dinner at a gospel-themed edition of Disco Dining Club. The underground supper club and dance party is haunting a warehouse in Boyle Heights, starting with an intimate dinner and carrying late into the night—like 5am late—with unlimited oysters.

Sunday

Reserve a spot in your Sunday schedule for a stop at Echo Park Craft Fair. Hosted at Silver Lake's Mack Sennett Studios, this Pinterester's Utopia is the perfect spot to pick up a last-minute Mother's Day gift—but of course we know you didn't forget that today is Mother's Day.

Sniff—no scratching necessary—your way through the AIX Scent Fair, the Hammer Museum-hosted fair that features an international selection of fragrance makers. While you're there, make sure to see the excellent Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College 1933-1957, which closes next weekend.

If you're up for another museum, make your way to the Getty Center for the opening weekend of Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China's Silk Road. Take a tour of three hand-painted, full-scale cave replicas constructed on the museum's plaza as part of this Buddhist art exhibition.

Celebrate gender swapping culture and couture at RuPaul’s DragCon. Meet drag queens, pop culture personalities and contestants from RuPaul's Drag Race at the LA Convention Center, plus catch a keynote speech by RuPaul on Sunday afternoon.

Close out your weekend at the Los Angeles Bicycle Festival. This two-wheel-friendly fest is bringing BMX demos, custom bikes, workshops and a beer garden to Grand Park. Splurge on a VIP ticket for access to a not-so-secret after party.
