Treat yourself (and give back) with these Pride specials

LA Pride is upon us and there are certainly tons of great parties and official events to attend, but they’re not the only ways you can celebrate. Here are four fun little ways to treat yourself, including ones that give back to the LGBTQ community.

Skittles Rainbow Sherbert at Salt & Straw

This limited edition flavor will only be scooped at Salt & Straw's West Hollywood parlor on June 10 and 11, while supplies last. To make the rainbow-colored delight, hundreds of pounds of skittles were sorted by color, then melted down and mixed into individual batches of sherbert. Those single-color batches are then swirled together into a diverse mix. For each purchase of Skittles Rainbow, the ice cream chain will donate a portion of proceeds to the Trevor Project.

PRIDE + Joy Brunch at Mama Shelter

Stop in for a special brunch session at Mama Shelter. DJ Misha Bernier will provide the tunes (expect lots of your favorite fabulous divas of the 1980s) for this daytime party with bottomless mimosas, rooftop views and a brunch menu that offers something for everyone, including both hangover-curing breakfast sandwiches and light and healthy fare.

Rainbow Connection Concrete at Shake Shack

Only available at the West Hollywood location, this version of Shake Shack’s signature concrete dessert is a rainbow-hued blend that incorporates ice cream, donuts from Cofax and seasonal fruit jam from Sqirl. Five percent of all sales of the sweet treat will go to organizations working on LGBTQ rights and education.

Pride rates at Kimpton Hotels

Book yourself a staycation at any one of the Kimpton hotel group’s local properties including the Everly Hotel, Palomar, La Peer or Hotel Wilshire through their LGBTQ community website and they’ll donate $10 to the Trevor Project for every night you stay. They’ll also give you a 15 percent discount as an added incentive.
