Friday

If you're on the Westside, start your weekend with some aspirational shopping as the WestEdge Design Fair opens at Barker Hangar. Over 100 brands will be showing off their latest modern furniture and interior design fixtures.

Start making your way east and stop at KillJoy’s Kastle: A Lesbian Feminist Haunted House. This sex-positive, fear-fighting haunted house in West Hollywood presents a progressive, feminist spin on closed-minded hell houses.

Head Downtown afterwards for a more traditional dose of horror as Dawn of the Dead screens at the Million Dollar Theater. The Cinespia-presented screening is taking over LA's oldest (and supposedly most haunted) movie palace with a DJ, full bar, themed photo booth and a handful of zombies.

Saturday

Up for a bit of a drive? Start your day at Huntington Beach for the So Cal Corgi Beach Day, a meet-up of the stumpiest, most adorable pups in Orange County. Afterwards, head inland to the Observatory for Beach Goth, a two-day music fest featuring the Growlers, Grimes, Die Antwoord, Julian Casablancas and more.

Back in LA, spend the afternoon exploring Bunker Hill during Grand Ave Arts: All Access. Eleven organizations and institutions, from the Broad to the Music Center, will host free performances, exhibitions and tours.

Drive over to a less buzzed about district of Downtown for the 6th Street Bridge Farewell Festival. Though the iconic bridge isn't slated for demolition until January, the city is throwing a party in its honor, with performances by War, Aloe Blacc and Graciela Beltran along with a fireworks show at the end of the night.

Before the sun goes down, start looking for parking for Día de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever. This Day of the Dead celebration gets pretty crowded later on, but it's worth braving the crowds; the altars and costumes are persistently stunning, and this year's native theme, "Shamanic Visions of the Huichol," is sure to be spectacular.

There are too many worthwhile events tonight to pick just one, so we'll let you choose between the Hammer Bash, the Rhonda International-fronted party at the Hammer Museum; the six-movie-long Annual Dusk-to-Dawn Horrorthon at the Aero Theatre; and Bill & Ted's Spooky Halloween Spooftacular, a send-up at UCB Franklin of the awful stage show that used to run at Universal Studios. For early birds, the Cinefamily is throwing Starbright: A Truly Outrageous Celebration of Jem and the Holograms, a title that kind of tells you everything you need to know.

Sunday

Start your morning at the Annenberg Space for Photography and its new LIFE: A Journey Through Time. Acclaimed National Geographic photographer Frans Lanting traces the evolution of life, from the dawn of time to present day, with over 70 interpretive images in this photo exhibition.

Stop at the Hammer Museum afterwards for a screening of Casa de mi Padre. Artist Frances Stark, who currently has an exhibition at the museum, handpicked the Will Ferrell Spanish-language comedy. She, along with Ferrell and some of the film's crew, will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A.

Over in Hollywood, meet collectors, store owners and label reps at the WAX Record Fair. Held outside of the iconic Capitol Records building, this inaugural vinyl fair features DJ sets, signings and even a tour of the studios where you can watch records being freshly pressed.

Nothing says Halloween like tapas and topless ladies. Settle in at El Cid for dinner, a performance by Sultry Sweet Burlesque, which is presenting "Asylum: A Burlesque InsTiTution."

Close out your weekend with us once again atop the Montálban Theatre on Vine as we present a Rooftop Film Club screening of Chinatown. It's a classic noir tale of water use and corruption, and we particularly chose it for its iconic depiction of LA.
